Cut-off dates trending over time
Your priority date becomes "current" when it is earlier than the cut-off date published by the monthly visa bulletin for your country of birth and visa type.

- Your priority date is effectively a horizontal line on the chart. When the green cut-off date line goes above your horizontal line, your priority date becomes current.
- When anyone in a particular country and visa category can file for their green card, the Visa Bulletin specifies a cut-off date of "C". For the purposes of the chart, the first of the bulletin's month is chosen as a placeholder cut-off date. That is, the green line above will follow the y = x diagonal line. Select the F2A visa type above for example.
- When visas are temporarily unavailable for a visa type and category, this is denoted as a "U" on the Visa Bulletin and a grey dotted line on the chart above. Select India EB-1 above for example.
